ARTIST'S
BIOGRAPHY
James Trigg was
born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1951, and has lived in or near
the
State of New Mexico all of his life. His father noticed his talent
at an early age, and
arranged for James to start private art lessons with Farmington
artist Pearl Scott while
he was still in middle school. Continuing his studies through
high school, James won
many honors both statewide and locally. James graduated from Fort
Lewis College in
Durango, Colorado in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine
Art. He completed his
studies in the top ten percent of his class receiving cum laude
honors. Painting
professionally since graduating from college, James has come to
concentrate
primarily on southwestern themes in oils. His strong desire to
continually improve his work
has led him to complete many classes and seminars and seek critiques
from other well
known artists. He has also taught art at the New Mexico State
University, San Juan Branch,
Community Service Program; and for a private art school in Farmington,
New Mexico.
Most recently James

all nationally known artists, including Gerald Farm, Rod Hubble,
John Cogan, and Jim Tschetter
entitled "The Lunch Bunch" at the James Henderson Fine
Arts Center of San Juan College
in Farmington, New Mexico. The College acquired two of his plein
air paintings at that time,

James has also had several one-man and
two-man shows, the most recent being a one man show entitled "Light
and Shadow" at the
Museum of the Southwest in Midland, Texas in November and December
of 2005.
The museum also accepted as a gift his painting "Jewel of
Santa Fe" for its Southwestern
Collection at that time. A notable two man show was with Santa
Fe artist Rod Hubble in
October 1990, at the Fine Arts Gallery at San Juan College in
Farmington, New Mexico.
During the show, the college acquired James' painting, "The
Totah", for its permanent
collection. One of James' works is also included in the collection
of the George Phippen
museum in Prescott, Arizona.
